OUR REVIEW/OPINION:*

Wait Time for Service: Immediate Service
Ambiance: The lighting was warm and subdued. The orange/brown tones were comforting, yet there was ample light to easily read the menu. The walls contained interesting black and white photography which blended well with the amber tones. Although we were placed at a table rather close to the entrance, we weren't completely distracted by the comings and goings of the patrons.
Food Ordered:
  • Appetizer: Texas Blue Crab cakes
  • Appetizer: Blackened scallops with Mango/Pineapple Salsa
  • Pan Seared Scallops with mashed potatoes and Sauteed Spinach
  • Shrimp Scampi with Angel Hair Pasta
  • Merlot and Chardonnay

Meal Rating: Waitress - This is not Mardie

The blackened scallops were delicious. The sweetness of the mango/pineapple sauce was a great compliment to the saltiness of the blackened scallops. Along with the pineapple/mango salsa, they give you a somewhat spicy and rather sweet horseradish marmalade. Nice change of pace for the pallet. The crab cakes were delicious. It's a pleasure to eat crab cakes that are mainly crab (not bread crumbs as so many restaurants use as a filler).

The Pan Seared Scallops dish is a favorite of ours and we knew that to expect. They did not let us down. It's worth ordering again. The shrimp scampi, on the other hand was a bit disappointing. I found it to be extremely salty and difficult to eat because of the saltiness.

I guess I'll bypass the Shrimp Scampi the next time.

Service: Our waitress, Mardie, was a professional. It was a busy time and she not only was able to service us (without writing our order down), she was able to pleasantly serve other tables too. I was very impressed with her warmth and professionalism.
Cost: $100.88 (excluding tip)
General Comments: Although my entree was over salted, we've eaten at Coyote Grill before with nothing but excellent results. I'm willing to give it another try.

Before visiting Coyote Grill, it might be a good idea to take a look at their menu in advance. I find it to be rather extensive and ordering is easier when you have a general idea of what you're looking for.
